What is SEO and how to optimise your blog post for SEO

SEO is an acronym for search engine optimisation and it is the methodology of strategies and techniques used to increase the amount of visitors to a website or blog by obtaining high ranking placement in the search result page of a search engine.

Today Ill be sharing with you guys the simple SEO tips I use in optimising my blog Post

1. Optimised Eye catchy title: As we all know that title of a newspaper attracts us to read the content,so it is applicable in blogging too. Title of a post plays the most important role in SERP and generates click through rate. What is the essence if your article got ranked in the first page of Google SERP and it does not attract visitors and make them click. Believe me,the pages ranked below/above which are having eye catchy title reap the juice even when you have written in depth articles. In Googles SERP, there are always 9 other search result on the first page along with your own article, so what make yours different and drive loads of traffic is the title of the article. So try write a very eye catchy title for your blog.
2. URL Optimisation: if youd ask, can URL be optimised? Of course yes, URL can be and must be optimised because search engines pay attention to URLs, mostly Google. It is easy for the user of blogger platform because of bloggers permalink feature. Unfortunately, only few bloggers use this feature because they dont know what it Is meant for or why to edit URL themselves when blogger automatically does that. Blogger permalink feature is to edit the post URL. When you enter the title of a new post,blogger automatically generates post URL but it may not include the main keywords of your post because there are only 30 first characters picked from the title so better way is to edit the permalink manually and make it simple, keyword optimised and short.
   E.g,: Title: How to Add HTML code to blogger template. Blogger will automatically generate the url as this: http://www.example.com/how-to-add-html-code.html.
   As you can see the URL above generated by blogger is missing some of our keywords which is "blogger template" So the URL is not as relevant as the post title and we can only make it relevant by editing in permalink.
   http://www.example.com/how-to-add-html-code-in-blogger-template.html
   By editing the URL above, I added "blogger template" which makes sense,is short and perfect according to the post because this post tells us about adding HTML codes in blogger template.
3. Using ALT Tagsfor images: Most bloggers,be it newbie or pro,use images in their articles as they play an important role in understanding what post is talking about. Images increases the interest and excitement and creativity.
   But there is another way images of your blog can bring extra visitors to your blog and that is possible with the use of alt tag. Adding alt tag helps Google to index your image and display in SERPs. So do not forget to use alt tag for the images in your post example of Alt tag:
4. Interlinking: When we write a blog post,its always advisable and good idea to link back to old posts so that readers will find old posts and search engines will re-crawl the old blog posts. It Id possible that your new post consists some bunch of keywords on which you have already written some articles on,so at the same time you have the opportunity to link back to older posts from those keywords. When you do that on your blog,it helps search engine to crawl your blog thoroughly and works like a sitemap of your blog and it also helps reader to read most relevant post they might be interested in and this also increase pageviews many times.
5. Content Length: One thing you should keep in mind while writing is that the longer the post,the better chance to rank the post higher in search engines. If you think am wrong, then to go any search engine and search for any query there. Then open and check out, Im sure there wi be at least 1500 words in those first 1-10 results. So it will be better if you keep to minimum length of post between 1000-1500 and maximum of 5000 words.
